If that “working class” is motivated by exclusionary elitism (“build that wall”, “mass deportation”) and so on they probably should not expect assistance from those opposed to the principle or practice of it. And really should give exclusionary elitism a go.

Given political polarisation, people will not emulate those they don’t think are credible i.e. the rich left are just “woke” and irrelevant. People will however align themselves with those tell/sell them a story they like, especially if it’s a revenge tragedy.
