If parts of the media wants to salt their ‘news’ with their opinions they should expect to be called out for that indulgent abuse of position to peddle their opinion as news.

It’s the Canberra greasy pole climbing contest Ian, way more exciting than dull old policy delivery. It’s also much safer.

Crikey used to be critical, but now its just going along with the populist follower vibe. Time for a new publication I think.

Way down the list would be the opinions and carping from the opposition, or comments on what might have happened if the government had done something different. Last on the interest list would be whether opinion polls supported the govt actions or inactions. FFS get a grip Crikey, are you Crikey or just another tabloid time waster?

Huh?
The Greens want to reduce the cost of renting, but don’t want to reduce the demand of renting, which is driving up the cost of renting.

Perhaps if they went back to being Green, as they once were, they could get some traction in the electorate. But that would mean making a stand against the wishes of lobbyists who want high housing prices and low wages.

Giants of the homeless.
Will go to any lengths to address the rental/housing crisis…except by addressing demand.
Where are you Bob?

Gun shy?
For mine Labor has been disappointing, but they exist in an Australian easily spooked and egocentric electorate looking for easy outs to complex self-dug bogs – so easily manipulated at the ballot box by conflicted parties, handing out shovels and pitch-forks.
After what happened to the shoo-in that was The Voice is it any wonder?
When viewsmedia is all too ready to fan the winds of frustration – without any practical hope of mitigation, just ‘change’ (away from progressive progress) – when relatively few are needed to change election outcomes.

Necessary changes need time to sink in and be accepted by a voter majority – that short term pain will avoid longer term pain – they don’t appeal to an electorate fixated on ‘bespoke quick-fixes’; that can turn out a short/one-term, unfinished, aspirational government en masse.
This tractor is bogged deep and sinking, and will take a lot longer to dig out by a necessary majority working together.

The dog ran away with my comma. That would make more sense as “..indecisive, now…”
