Has it ever been objectively and dispassionately demonstrated that all aspects of everything require strict proportionality with gender and racial composition? Do men and women read exactly the same mix of articles? If not, why should we expect strict balance in the generation of articles. This constant whingeing about gender balance in every aspect of life has become tiresome. I didn’t learn much of anything useful here.

It depends if it’s Female Carbon (good) or Male Carbon (bad) involved.

The monopoly on FTA media means they own the narrative and that is too big a prize to give to one side of politics. In a capitalist system you can organise and compete directly.

Not so much alarmist as truthful enough. It’s all been toned down so as not to scare the children. It used to be “Thousands of years before the arctic sea ice melted”, then it was “Many hundreds of years”. And so on, across the board. Some of it was out of ignorance, but most was political. Far more effort needs to be made in research for us to have any hope of predicting what will happen. For example, a recent finding is that water seeping under grounded ice around Antarctica melts it and allows ever more water to intrude, melting ever more ice. This is a key finding as it shortens the time before the glaciers speed up into the sea, raising the level by many metres, even tens of metres, and the time line of these events is crucial. Australia should be leading the research there, but the science has a budget which is shrinking even faster than the ice.

Or an end to capitalist hegemony in general, perhaps?

Tough to see any resolutions to our biggest problems failing that

Pretty sure drastic is leaning the other way; the IPCC and climate scientists in general haven’t been alarmist enough.

On one hand, they’re just doing their jobs; on the other, their nominal job description doesn’t match the poop in the tin.

Climate change and other harmful excesses of capitalism will never be part of conservative narrative. This article is calling out for a strong and permanent independent alternative media outlet to the status quo whether the author and the readers know it or not.
